At the time of white settlement in the 1860s, the Dimboola locality was initially known as ‘Nine Creeks’ after the local creeks running into the Wimmera River around which this quaint, pretty and very tidy town is built.

Although the town is situated on the route between Melbourne and Adelaide, it is very quiet and peaceful due to the highway bypass.

After camping the first night at the Recreation Reserve we settled into the very impressive Dimboola Caravan Park for a few days to enjoy the river proximity and the easy stroll into the town.

With in an easy stroll of the town centre, the Dimboola Caravan Park, operated by the local government is beautifully positioned beside the Wimmera River and the adjacent Recreation Reserve parklands.

Another short walk from the caravan park is the rather famous and historic Victoria Hotel, built in 1924 and retaining many of it period features and charm.

The Little Desert National Park
Dimboola is also the gateway the Little Desert National Park.

We were blessed with a beautiful day to enjoy some bushwalking in the Little Desert National Park.

Pimponderoo Hill Walk, only a short journey out of Dimboola, is a splendid walk on a nice day

Dimboola, a great place to visit!
