After many weeks visiting towns and cities along the Princess Highway, Jack breathed a sigh of relief as he turned the rig westward onto the Hunter Valley Expressway leading to the New England Highway. Thankfully, exiting Sydney via the Motorway was not too stressful and a few hours later we set up at Branxton Oval RV Area which is a free camp.

Branxton is located in the Hunter Region, also commonly known as the Hunter Valley, one of Australia’s oldest wine regions. This free camp, generously provided by the local community, is easy walking distance to everything the town of about 2000 people offers.

Old Church with Cemeteries
Not so common is Australia, Branxton Anglican and Catholics Churches have cemeteries in the church yards.

The cemetery at the rear of St Johns Anglican Church overlooks the lush golf course.

A couple of blocks away the slightly younger St Brigid’s Catholic Church has a larger cemetery.

A large traditional cemetery abuts St Brigid’s Church.

A fairly small town, with an enormous croquet field, adjacent to RV camp.

As well as the pub, campers can walk to the post office, cafe, the supermarket, op shops and lots more.

After a peaceful sleep, a foggy morning and time to hit the road again.
