Wallabadah Primitive Campground

Wallabadah is tiny village of less than 400 that straggles along the New England Highway. A very scenic part of Australia the town is surrounded by fine wool, stud cattle and prime lamb country. The campground is positioned next to the main attraction, the comprehensive and sophisticated First Fleet Memorial Garden where names of the people who travelled to Australia on the First and Second Fleets are chiseled onto sandstone tablets.

The campground situated between the gardens and the Quirindi Creek provides lush mowed grass, potable water and toilets with hot showers. Campers are encouraged to donate $10 per night for the upkeep.

Notable sights driving through town are the disused (Catholic) church and the Marshall MacMahon Hotel which dates from about 1867.

Late on a Monday afternoon, the pub looked less busy than the church!
