Continuing our journey northward up the New England Highway, we stopped for a few hours to explore Tamworth, the second largest regional city in New South Wales with a population of about 65,000 people.

The Tamworth CBD is situated beside the banks of the Peel River, on the western side of the Great Dividing Range, about 420 kilometres north of Sydney.

Finding a park for the caravan about a block away, we ventured along Peel Street, the main shopping precinct. Impressed by the rural charm and the prosperous ambience, it wasn’t long before we enjoy a delicious lunch in the Tamworth Square food court.

We enjoyed the Country Music Wax Museum during our visit to the Tamworth Visitor Information Centre.

Wandering around the Tamworth Bicentennial Park, Jack met another of his favorite country music artists, Chad Morgan.

Also located in Tamworth’s Bicentennial Park is a tribute to the men of the ANZAC corps who served in the Boer, Sudan and First World wars. The Waler Light Horse memorial statue depicts an Australian World War I trooper saying farewell to his Waler horse in the deserts of the Middle East.

Yes
Great post! Tamworth seems like a charming place to visit. I’m curious to know if there are any other historical or cultural landmarks that you would recommend for tourists to visit in the area?
